#LIK - Love Insurance Kompany

Plot : Set in 2040, a world where an app called LIK decides who you’re meant to be with, Vasu believes love should be felt, not calculated. He falls for Dheema, a social media influencer who trusts the app’s Love Score more than her own instincts. But when LIK declares them incompatible, it slowly pulls them apart and leads to their breakup. Unable to accept that something as real as love can be reduced to numbers, Vasu sets out to fight back not just to win her back, but to prove that love can’t be defined by an algorithm, even if it means taking down LIK and its founder Suriyan itself.

Performance wise, PR as Vibe Vassey is good. Nothing out of the box performance but his standard performance which we saw in Love Today, Dragon & Dude. Though he has improved a bit , he still needs to work a little bit on emotional sequences. SJS as Suriyan is insanely funny with his trademark funny performance. His counters and reactions and especially his Mayilirgae Recreation is the best part of the film. Krithi Shetty as Dheema is gorgeous on screen and does a really good job of pulling off a tech savy influencer role who believes in tech more than own emotions. Her Styling and Apparels were fantastic. Seeman as PR's Father is a great choice and has done a fantastic performance. Yogi Babu some counters work. Gouri Kishan gets a meaty role and has done a good job. Shah Ra wasted largely except one or two scenes. Same with Anandraj too. Malavika makes a comeback but unfortunately a half baked character pulls it down. Same for Sunil Reddy too. The Android Voiced by Anirudh was a great idea and his voice was a fantastic fit.

Technically, the film is stunning! Thanks to a Fantastic Cinematography by Ravi Varman who captures that Future essence and brings it on screen . Anirudh's BGM and Songs are the heart and soul of the film and elevate every scene to its maximum potential. Editing by Pradeep Raghav was good. VFX was largely fantastic, except for 2-3 places it looked fantastic.

The Film opens with the introduction of Suriyan character played by SJS and the setup of LIK App. Though it is clearly not established whether it is a Dating app or a Social media or a Telecom Company, it is assumed as a Dating App. Then we are introduced to Organic World with Anbu Kadal and his son Vibe Vassey. The Setup looked very interesting with a very interesting performance from Seeman and PR. Their chemistry kinda worked instantly (atleast for me maybe not for others). The First Confrontation between SJS and PR looked a bit weak but post introduction of Dheema the film takes off. Though it takes so long to get into the core point the film is neither boring nor engaging. The songs Dheema & Pattuma were beautiful on screen. The Pre Interval is where the core plot of Heart vs App is revealed and it was a very interesting Interval block.

The Second Half unfortunately stumbles and goes on rounds around the core content. The Side Track between Vasu & Kalki felt a bit inorganic though the content was good the way it was introduced into the story felt a bit odd. Also some comedy in the second half felt dragged which couldve reduced. The Placement of Enakenna Yaarum ilaye was insane but only if the pre & post scenes of that song were powerful the song would've been even more impactful. Pookatum song was good but that entire portion felt it couldve been conveyed in 2 scenes instead of a full song.The Climax fight felt a bit odd witu the Tech and Robots but it was fun with Advaadi Song.

Coming to the Negatives of the film , the films suffers from an Identity crisis. Whether it wants to be Social Commentary on dependency of Tech? Or it wants to be a breezy rom com? Or a mix of both. The film has insane potential but the lack of emotional depth for such a plot felt a bit odd. Also the stakes for Protagonist or Antagonist dont feel threatening which doesn't allow the audience to connect with them. The film also suffers from continuity issues due to scattered shooting. Multiple characters like Shah Ra, Malavika , Anandraj , VTV Ganesh had potential to do something to core plot but were reduced to mere extras without much to contribute except one or two scenes. 

Coming to Writer Director Vignesh Shivan, his core idea looks great but an exciting idea like this needed better writing and more emotional depth. Wikki doesn't tap too much into melodrama and tries to keep it sweet and simple which actually works in some portions but not always. Wikki should hire some good writers to expand on his innovative ideas. Visually stunning film but need better writing. It was definitely fun on screen for one time watch but it you get deep into the film you can easily articulate each and every flaw.

Overall: LIK - Love Insurance Kompany is an Mediocre Rom Com that is visually stunning but needed better emotional depth and better character writing but is largely saved by SJS performance and Anirudh's Insane Music.
