English -2025
Starring : Ryan Gosling,Sandra Huller , James Ortiz and Lionel Boyce
Directed by Phil Lord & Christopher Miller
Plot : Ryland Grace, a middle school science teacher, wakes up alone in a spaceship with no memory of how he got there. As he slowly pieces things together, he realizes that Earth is in danger. During his journey, he meets and befriends a rock-like alien named Rocky. The story follows how Grace and Rocky build an unlikely friendship and work together to save their planets.

Performance wise , Ryan Gosling as Ryland Grace is Phenomenal. He internalizes the character's loneliness , yearnings , fear and braveness and brings it on screen fantastically. Other than Ryan , cast members like Sandra Huller & Lionel Boyce get a very brief role and have performed really well. Out of these two , Sandra gives a more impressive performance. James Ortiz as the voice of Rocky is absolutely phenomenonal.

Technically the film is a Masterpiece. The VFX, The Cinematography, The Editing and Sound Design everything is top notch.

Talking about the Positives of the film , the film is Technically peak which enhances the film viewing experience more. The film effectively uses Silence as a storytelling tooo which makes the film feel more grounded and enhances a lot of scenes. The Cinematography is top notch and feels so immersive. Though largely the film showcases only 2 characters on Screen (Grace & Rocky) , the screenplay doesn't feel staggered and moves on a rapid pace. The film doesn't overblow or over- exaggerate anything and rather goes on a normal level without much highs or lows but feels engaging for the most of the parts. Also the Humour feels very organic for all parts and don't feel forced.
Talking about the negatives , the only two negatives was that the film slightly feels dragged towards the pre climax. Though the sequences is key for building an emotional outcome at the Third Act , it could've been a little bit shorter. Also the film is not like Interstellar, Gravity or Martian but instead works as a Feel Good Space Drama which might be disappointing to those who expect that kinda space film.

Coming to Writer Director Duo Phil Lord & Christopher Miller, the film completely sticks to the source material Project Hail Mary Novel by Andy Wier. Slight changes are there but those largely don't affect the core plot. They stay loyal to the source material while adapting it perfectly. Everything perfectly gels together, the Emotions, the Humour , the Social Commentary and even the subtle Messaging about Identity and loneliness.

Overall: Project Hail Mary comes out as a Visually Striking and Unique Space film that boasts of a Phenomenal performance of Ryan Gosling and stands out as feel good drama.
