Plot : A ruthless conglomerate cheats the farmers of Bikaner, grabbing their land under the false pretense of government authority for their development project and denying them fair compensation. When a helpless farmer ends his life in despair, his widow takes the bold step of moving the Delhi High Court against the conglomerate’s powerful CEO, Haribhai Khetan. What follows is an unexpected clash as both Jollys - Jagdish Tyagi (Jolly 1) and Jageshwar Mishra (Jolly 2)get caught in the case. What follows is how they both decide to fight against Haribhai Khetan and how they bring justice to the farmers forms the rest if the story.
Akshay Kumar as Jolly 2 steals the show with his witty one liners and his fantastic argument scenes especially in the second half. Arshad Warsi on the other hand as Jolly 1 has a much lesser scope but steals wherever he appears on screen with him calm yet sarcastic tone. Though Akshay has more screentime and importance than Arshad, both of them have done a terrific performance and their chemistry works largely. Wish they had more sequences together. Huma Qureshi and Amrita Rao who reprise their roles from LLB 1&2 get a limited role and have done a good job. Saurabh Shukla as the Judge Tripathi again gets a meaty role and has performed really well especially in Humour scenes. There is a monologue in the Second half between Saurabh Shukla character and his assistant which is so heartfelt and fabulous. Seema Biswas who plays the role of the deceased farmer's wife has done a fabulous job especially in the flashback scene and pre climax scene. Gajraj Rao as CEO Haribhai Khetan is absolutely fantastic. His controlled attitude and the sly behaviour he carries through the film is phenomenal. Ram Kapoor as the Opposite Lawyer gets a small yet powerful role and has done a pretty decent job.
The Film is technically strong. Thanks to a sharp Cinematography by Rangarajan Ramabadran. The Visuals are sharp and feels lively. Editing by Chandrashekhar P also feels very good moving quickly from sequences. Though there are 3 Music Directors , there are no standout songs which interupts the story's flow. There are 2 Montage Song which are pretty good and do not come as a speed breaker.
The film opens with the Introduction of People in Parasul village and how their lives are affected by a Conglomerate's Development plan which seizes their lands under the pretext of Government. Post that we are introduced the clash Jolly 1 & 2 in Delhi Court . This sequences establish each Jolly's Character . The film then gets into the core point when Seema Biswas character gets into both Jollys Life. Post this , the film takes an different turn when it pits Jolly 1 against Jolly 2 but unfortunately that point of the film is shortlived. The Flashback sequence narrated by Seema Biswas is pretty strong and emotional and lays proper foundation to the main issue. Post that the Interval Twist is pretty predictable yet the execution is really good.
Then comes the second half , which moves in a pace little lesser than the first half. While there are no unwanted scenes, the sequences showing the bonding between Jolly's could've much more effective . There's a Hotel scene which could've been trimmed. Also the court proceeding sequences in Second half are much lesser which could've been more. And most importantly, Jolly 1 , Arshad Warsi's character is underwritten in second half giving more importance to Jolly 2 , Akshay Kumar's Character which kind off feels inconsistent. While again Arshad scores terrifically in the finale closing sequence, wish his arc could've been written in a better way. The Climax comes out as one of the best sequence where both Akshay and Arshad both steal the show. It's a Hard hitting sequence which conveys a very important message.
Coming to Writer Director Subhash Kapoor, once again has taken a very important issue and has built it as a screenplay as a Legal drama around it and have to say he as largely succeed in that. Though the film speaks about a very important topic, it never feels preachy and has a proper balance between Humour and Seriousness .While there is character writing Inconsistency and comes out more as a Akshay Kumar film with Arshad Warsi extended cameo instead of being a Two - Hero film , it never fails to engage the audience.
Overall: Jolly LL.B 3 is a Good Legal Drama that touches upon a very important topic but never comes preachy which is heavily supported by fantastic performances of Akshay Kumar and Arshad Warsi. While there are minor hiccups here and there, the film is definitely worth watching.
