Plot: Saravanan, A Lawyer from Chennai learns that his Eloped Sister Selvi has committed suicide. Shocked by this , Saravanan travels to Kovur to solve the mystery behind her death and comes across a Malevolent Spirit known as Baak . Who is this Baak? How is it related to Selvi ? How Saravanan is going to safeguard his Sister's Kids from Baak forms the rest of the story.

Performance wise , Sundar C as lead does his usual job in the template mode. There is nothing more to his performance. Tamannaah on the other side gets a meatier role and has performed really well especially in the Second Half. Raashi Khanna merely gets a sidekick role and does that part well. Garuda Ram who gets a pivotal role does well but his language and dubbing looks off at times. Yogi Babu, VTV Ganesh and Kovai Sarala comedy track works rarely, but Seshu's Track and Delhi Ganesh Track works really well. Jayaprakash again gets a template role and does what he does best.

Technically the film is really strong . The Film's Forest Set which is directly inspired by Vikrant Rona is really good. Fantastic Set work and especially special mention to the entire climax set piece. Some places VFX looks amateurish but largely they are decent and believable . Hip Hop Tamizha's Bgms are loud but technically help to elevate the film's mood and are really good. JoJo Song is soothing whereas the Achacho song in Post Credit is peppy. Cinematography by Krishnaswamy is good and Editing by Oliver could've been better at places.

 The Film doesn't take much time getting into the main plot , after an initial unwanted hero introduction fight the film gets into the story. While some gags here and there work in the first half , the film solely gets into horror and investigation mode. The Jump Scares are predictable but land properly. First Half goes at a good pace with just minor lags in the name of comedy
The Interval twist is pretty decent and is not surprising or jaw dropping.The Second Half opens with Baak backstory and Flashback. While the film lags here and there in second half , a couple of interesting ideas make even the lagged second half work.

On the Downside, The film is stuck to template right from frame 1 till the end. The Film has everything that all the films in this franchise have , a Evil Sorcerer, a revenge seeking spirit , a grand pre Climax amman song and a larger than life Good Vs Evil Climax fight in a temple premise. While there are fresh ideas here and there , execution is not always on point. And Few VFX shots and ideas are outrightly inspired/taken from famous Marvel films. 

Sundar C post his disastrous Coffe with Kaadhal again comes back to his forte of Horror Comedy but this time tries to up thr game with 60% Horror and 40% comedy instead of half half. The Baak Concept is introduced slowly and takes a centre stage towards Interval and film actually works totally on that. Though the film doesn't try anything out of the box , the Interesting and more importantly entertaining screenplay makes audience enjoy. The Pre Climax and Climax Sequence are shot lavishly and look stunning on big screen. Also this is Sundar C's cleanest film with no Glamour or Double meaning dialogues (achacho song only as post credit). The film hits the right chords with the Audience and barring few lags here and there , surprisingly the film will work for Family Audience who are the main target.

Overall : Aranmanai 4 is a Template driven commerical Horror Comedy by Sundar C that has some interesting ideas that are partially weighed down by mediocre screenplay but works largely as a No brainer Entertainer.
