#Jailer - 2023 - Tamil

Plot : Muthuvel Pandian , a Retired Jailer is forced back into crime world when he finds out that his Son has been missing and is assumed dead. An Agitated Muthuvel seta on a journey to find out what happened to his son and who are responsible for it. 

Superstar Rajinikanth's One Man Show !! The Star's Subtle Acting in the entire first half and his Violent side in second half is terrific ! The film is for both , Actor Rajinikanth and Superstar Rajinikanth. The Man is a Living Legend. Vinayakan as the primary Antagonist looks very menacing and has done a really good job. His dialect and sarcastic tone is a big plus. Vasanth Ravi as Muthuvel's Son gets a meaty role and Vasanth has done a justifiable work. Ramya Krishnan as his mother gets a very minimal role and isn't utilised properly. Sunil , Redin and Tamannaah also are wasted . VTV Ganesh in a cameo is okayish but Yogi Babu is in terrific form. His Chemistry with Thalaivar worked wonders. Shivraj Kumar , Mohan Lal and Jackie Shroff in Cameo are just pure fire. 

Technically, the film is strong at is base .Anirudh's Thumping Music is a big plus to the film. The placement of Hukum was fantastic. Kaavalayya picturization was bad . BGMs by Ani are pure goosebumps materials. Cinematography by Vijay Karthik is unique and captivating. Editing by Nirmal was good. Art by Kiran was good. VFX was good 

On the Downside, the film's second half stumbles and goes haywire. Also the entire Tamannaah Sunil Potions felt dragged and unnecessary beyond a point. Few Forced Jokes didn't land properly. And also with some stellar Female Casting, unfortunately none of the female characters fail to create an impact.

Writer Director Nelson has chosen a regular revenge story but has infused with multiple genres. The way he designed The Protagonist Character Arc was just fantastic. His Screenplay just is predictable and unpredictable at the same time. Probably this is one of his best writing in a while. While there are some trademark Nelson Dark Humour, it doesn't seem forced especially in the serious portions. The Flow is not disturbed.
The film is definitely not perfect, but the way Nelson designed all the Protagonist Elevation scenes and character arcs makes us all overlook the minor flaws.

Overall: Jailer is a Wonderfully made film that completely relies on Thalaivar's Charisma and Subtility . Nelson's Writing is Strong and Superstar's Massive Screen Presence combined with powerful music and even powerful cameos makes Jailer as one of the best commercial film in recent times
Rajinikanth fans don't miss out this mass festival on theatres .
