2023 - Tamil
Starring : Sivakarthikeyan , Aditi Shankar, Mysskin , Sunil , Yogi Babu , Saritha and Monisha
Directed by Madonne Ashwin
Plot : Sathya , A Timid and Coward Comic Artist starts hearing a Voice on his head after an accident. The Voice unknowingly pitches him against Jeyakodi ,a Deadly MP who swears to destroy Sathya. What is that voice , what is the voices ulterior motive and how Sathya manages to escape from Jeyakodi forms the rest of the Story.
SK as Sathya has done a fantastic performance. Be it in his timid sequence or the one where he fights back , SK excels in both the variations. Mysskin as the Antagonist is fun and deadly at the same time. His one liners and reactions are fantastic. Aditi Shankar does an okayish job. Sunil gets a meaty role but is wasted . Yogi Babu's One Liners and Reactions evoke laughter a lot of times. Saritha as SK's mother gives a subtle and settled performance. Good Debut for Monisha. Vijay Sethupathi's Special Voiceover is terrific.
Vidhu Ayyannas Cinematography is great. Philomin Raj's Editing is good, but could've been much sleeker. Bharath Shankar's Music is okayish with just 3 songs but BGM at places are fantastic. Average VFX . Special Mention to Stunt Choreography.
On the Downside, the film's second half gets a bit serious and falters at point. Also the Prolonged Climax Sequence feels like a drag at times.
Madonne Ashwin has taken a very simple plot and built a interesting screenplay surrounding it with a fantasy element. Surprisingly the film doesn't take the regular commercial route and does not deviate. Even with a less stronger second half, the film works largely due to its powerful performances and unpredictability nature of the screenplay.
Highlights :
1) Funny First Half with Yogi Babu's One Liners
2)Mysskin House fight sequence
3)Boat Fight Sequence
4)Vijay Sethupathi's Voiceover
Overall : A Unique Fantasy Comedy Drama that works with a Strong First Half and Average Second. Watch out for a Completely unique SK film post Doctor
Rating : 3.25-3.5/5
