#Maamannan
Tamil -2023
Starring : Vadivelu , Fahadh Fasil , Udhayanidhi Stalin , Keerthy Suresh and Lal
Directed by Mari Selvaraj

Plot: When Maamannan , a Socially Backward Politician is disrespected and treated badly , Maamannan's Son Adhiveeran takes up the issue and decides to restore his Father's Honor back.

First of all Take a bow , Vadivelu ! You are not a comedian anymore. Vadivelu as Maamannan is the showstealer of this film who gives a very earnest and hauntingly beautiful performance. Udhayanidhi Stalin as Adhiveeran gets a great role and performs really well. Keerthy as Female Lead gets a different Perfomance oriented role and performs neatly. Though there isn't much scope for the character, Keerthy registers a presence. Fahadh as the Antagonist is terrific. Be it his wicked smile or his emotional outburst, he is fantastic. Other cast like Lal , Azhagamperumal , etc get a small role and perform well.

Technically, Maamannan is Strong. Theni Eshwar's Artistic Cinematography is beautiful. Be it Visual Metaphor or a Location Scenary it's fantastic. Editing by Selva RK is good. But the biggest surprise is AR Rahman's Background Score and Score. Be it the songs like Raasakannu or Nenjame , or the background score for crucial scenes , ARR nailed it in a unique way .

On the downside, the Film's pacing is comparatively slower than Mari Selvaraj's Previous Two Films. The film takes a considerable time to get into the core plot issue. Also The second half seems a bit stretched and there a minor duration lags at time.
Mari Selvaraj has taken a simple but very important concept as the core plot and beautifully built a story around it. Be it the Visual Metaphors or the Strikingly Honest Dialogues, Mari Selvaraj does it again. Yes, the film is relatively 20% more Commercial than previous movies but does not deviate from what he wants to say.

Highlights :
1)Pre Interval Block
2) Post Interval Maamannan House Scene
3)Car Sequence
4) Hard Hitting Dialogues

Overall : Maamannan is a Hard Hitting Political Drama that is supported by a excellent performances and beautifully written strong dialogues.
